What we fund

The Tregonning-Duff Foundation has core focus areas because they are important to our values and philosophy. As a philanthropic family foundation with limited resources we support areas where we feel we can make the greatest impact.

Examples of our areas of focus:

We want future generations of New Zealanders to have clean waterways, fresh air and to respect and understand how essential our native birds, insects, fish, animals and forests are for our ecosystem.? Our aim is to assist in the promotion of environmental sustainability and preserve biodiversity. We support:

  • community organisations that promote better understanding, especially for the younger generation, of environmental issues.

We believe strong supportive families benefit all New Zealanders. ?To this end, we want to support communities to nurture supportive families with a primary focus on:

  • Assistance for children and families to participate actively in learning, particularly in the early years.
  • Help for young people to develop their potential and contribute fully in the community.

We support selected organisations by funding targeted research and education that will lead to effective change for New Zealand as a whole.? We primarily focus on:

  • taurangaPartnering with other funders, government, tertiary institutions and other
    community bodies.
  • Commissioning limited scholarships for specific education and training courses.
  • Provision of limited prizes to promote education, entrepreneurship and research that benefits New Zealand.

The Tregonning-Duff Foundation also supports organisations and community groups that focus on building a prosperous New Zealand for the benefit of future generations.
